Biographical Information
Moya Kinnealey holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology / Special Education. She has extensive clinical experience working with infants, children and youth with disabilities in a variety of school, community and private practice settings. Her specialty area is sensory processing issues and their impact on quality of life across the human lifespan with particular interest in autism, ADHD and non diagnosed individuals with sensory/emotional issues. She has published, presented and consulted on this topic to families, schools and professional groups locally, nationally and internationally.
As Associate Professor at Temple University Department of Occupational Therapy, she taught, coordinated research and chaired the department of occupational therapy. She participated in the development of interdisciplinary and discipline specific programs throughout her tenure. She has held a variety of state, national and international positions and board memberships in professional associations.
Moya Kinnealey’s research and publications, working extensively with graduate students, clinicians and professional colleagues, focuses on the impact of sensory processing issues on children, youth and adults including its impact on daily functioning, social emotional well being, and quality of life as well as the effectiveness of occupational therapy intervention.
